The hack n’ slash style fighting does make it relatively easy to get through, but at the risk of getting repetitive. There’s some grinding that needs to happen. The game features an RPG style leveling system where you must level up your suits in order to be able to succeed in the next level.

Exploding enemies is a trademark of this particular franchise, and it’s very satisfying to watch enemies come apart as you fight them. In keeping with other Dynasty Warriors games such as its predecessor, Dynasty Warriors: Gundam. This is only a minor flaw however, and doesn’t detract from the game very much. There’s only so many boring metal walls and starry back drops you can look at before craving something different. The explosions are well done and beautiful to look at, but the backdrops are repetitive to the point of being dull. The graphics in this game are a step down form other Gundam games of the past, but they’re not terrible. This is one of those few, refreshing games where you can play as long as you want and still find new things to do. The game has an enormous amount of content, including a rich 20 hour long “Official Mode” as well as more open ended options.
